Our well old and out of warranty Samsung Sky HD Box is dying and needs replacing. It is one of the original HD boxes

I am going to go to the Auction sites, what model should I be looking for?
What is the latest one that sends Digital sound via the HDMI cable ?

Thanks

When our box was dying I phoned them up and complained. After some arguing they wouldn't reduce the £65 call out fee but they would give me a discount on the subscription.

Engineer turned up. Said box was failing. Replaced with no further charge,

I got sky to post my replacement skybox to me and I installed it myself ;)
(so there was no called out fee)

Thanks all,

We are well out of warranty and had all the Sky warranty offers through the door for years.

It looks like the LNB Number 2 port on the box has died. Cannot get it to recognise a signal with either cable in it even thou both cables work with LNB no 1 input.

Will give Sky a call and see if I can blag a new box.

Worst case looks like ebay and a DRX895WL-C 2TB box for about £100

Are you sure it's not been put in single tuner mode?

if not then Gumtree has loads. We paid £10 for a brand new wifi enabled 500GB HD box, took 2 minutes to swap and about the same to activate online. It was un-used as a neighbor had moved house and been given a new wifi enabled box as part of the new deal but didn't want to loose the existing recorded content so stuck with her old one.

My old box was just getting very slow. I got a refurb upgraded 2TB one for about £100 with lifetime warranty from the bay. Its well snappy now, and I love having the 2TB drive so much free space.

Call Sky and get a replacement. We have just had 2 Sky HD+ boxes replaced free of charge along with the a free engineer call out and our bill reduced by over 50% just by threatening to cancel.

Normally a full planner rebuild and at worst a drive swap would get you the same. It's an easy enough job and half the price.
