Replacement sticky pads for dashcam

My rear camera has lost adhesion, and i haven't got any spare pads

the camera comes with "3M VHB" sticky pads, and i want the same again

when i googled i came to autoexpress (or one of the auto magazines) and they suggested to get from a reputable seller because there are a ton of fakes around


so, where to get these from ? i tried amazon, but they are all 3rd party

anyone bought some that they can tell me where to buy some from please ?

i tried screwfix and B&Q online and Robert Dyas in store, nothing

I don't think 'HOMMAND' is a legit 3M sub brand.

They look like exactly what he's trying to avoid - a knock off product with a 3M logo slapped on it.

Most of the VHB tape/pads legit or not is pretty **** in my experience. Though it can be a bit more permanent than maybe desired Unibond No More Nails (strips) usually does the job.

I would just get whatever has 3M on for the price tbh.

i have had good luck with Gorilla Double Sided Mounting Tape. used it to stick on number plates as well as dash cams its like a gel strip so works like a foam pad

the only stuff that ever lasted for me was some pads i got from a windscreen fitter, he said they were for refitting old escort rear view mirrors after he changed the screens. It looked like the normal 3M stuff but was black and way stickier but i've not been able to find out exactly what it was but it was really good stuff.

Probably VHB 5952F but I've found it hit and miss myself - some stuff it works incredibly well, other stuff just falls off after 5 minutes.

I bought a 100mm square section of 3M VHB from a seller on eBay. Was only about £3.50 and is doing the job perfectly. Got plenty spare after cutting it down too.

Price: £1.70
so would trust him,
doesn't now sell exactly the same one, but it is marked high temperature, my dashcam hasn't fallen off windscreen in 3 years.

3M VHB tape in various gauges and thicknesses isn't very expensive, useful to have around. Something like a Viofo dashcam kit often comes with several pads for reapplication, if you were contemplating a different model in the future.
