Hi all,

I'm having the windscreen and driver side window replaced on my car (someone thought it would be a good idea to scratch both of them!!). I phoned my insurance company (admiral) and they agreed to replace both bits of glass, and charge me the standard £70 excess.

The company they use is National Windscreens. I was wondering if anyone has used this company before/has any feedback?

I am also slightly concerned about potential damage to the car from replacing the windscreen, I've never had to have one replaced before, and a couple of my friends have mentioned that paint work etc can be scratched during the replacement. Has anyone had this done before?

any help would be great

cheers

I am the worlds biggest National Windscreens fan, because they damaged my car when they fitted the windscreen and head office paid for the entire front end of the car to be resprayed to fix it.

Very happy :D

I had a house brick, yes, a house brick hit mine yesterday on the M1. Only had the bloody thing fitted 6 months and now I need another.

Nope, very lucky. Driving to Leeds, outside lane and see this thing bounce over the central reservation, once on the road and then bang off my screen just above the wiper blade leaving a 50p sized chip. It is out of line of site but will no doubt start to spread.

I'd give them 3 out of 10 for the chip repair they did on my car. However I suppose its all down to the fitters in your local area. Some good some bad like all things.

My Dad got a house brick thrown at his car a few months back whilst heading south down the M6 toll, it hit the passangers side of the windscreen and made a massive crack and bullethole sized dent, the brick came from some yobs standing under one of the bridges just up the banking. he reported it at the toll booth, hopefully the police got them.
