Replacement Wire or not?

I am running onboard sound for now and i have my sound connected up to a speaker and mic port on the back ports and on the front ports on my case but now my mic has stopped working on the front port and its a big pain to have keep pulling computer out to plug headset in all the time and i am pritty sure that the wire has melted a little is it possible to get a replacement wire to connect my case sound ports to the audio pins on my board instead of paying a lot for a new card or a control panel for the front with audio ports i know theres the Akasa All-In-One panel but i want to avoid front covers sticking out at the front any ideas Thanx
