My long serving MX 1000 mouse if on the way out. I'm looking for another logitech replacement. I don't mind if It's AA or a charging dock, just of similar spec/quality to the MX1000.

I got the mouse in a MX5000 set with the KB which I want to keep using, I take it the new little USB receivers are back compatible with the older keyboards?

So any recommendations, I don't game. :)

i loved my MX 1000, closest to it that ive used is the logitech g700, some small issues i have with it,

when you plug it in with the cable, it feels very heavy, it uses a rechargeable AA does not last as long as my MX 1000 battery did, it will last 1 day doh so just remember to plug it in at night.
when i was playing MMO's the extra buttons were useful, but not really outside of that, at least for me

also it uses 2x usb ports, 1 for the cable to charge it and 1 for the receiver, so if your low on ports, this might be an issue. and as i stated its not nice to use in cable mode.

I'm using the Logitech Performance MX mouse, recharge lasts around 30 days, come with the universal receiver, so all wireless logitech devices can connect seamlessly.

Fantastic mouse and highly recommend, not too bad for gaming either if you ever were too.

Thanks for the suggestions guys, I will go and find them now to try out in the hand before I buy :)

Looking at an old logitech support thread it seems the receiver isn't backwards compatible so I would need the original for my keyboard and then the mouse one. Not too much of an issue. I have enough spare USBs.

Look for the Logitech MX Revolution, predecessor of the Performance MX.

Possibly the best mouse ever in my opinion.
