Hi guys, my motherboard had a bit of a problem. It was still under warranty when all the USB ports stopped working. Called Over clockers who said at the time that I could have a replacement but I need to return with the packaging I said I may not be able to find it and the guy on the phone said we will need the packaging.
So being a bit nerve and didn’t want to make a fuss so I left it

The other day I was in my local supplier and told the technician on duty what happened and he said that this was a load of rubbish and it is the product under warranty not the box and that to me now makes since.

Anyway that’s the rant what I may need if I can’t resolve this is a replacement so I have a system that works

And this is my system=

Gigabyte GA_965P_DS3 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard

Sony NEC Optiarc AD-5170 18x DVD±RW IDE Dual Layer ReWriter (Black) - OEM

GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC2-5300C4 667MHz Value DDR2 Dual Channel Kit (GX22GB5300DC)

Antec Sonata II Piano Black Quiet Case - 450W Smart Power PSU

Samsung SpinPoint P 250GB SATA-II 8MB Cache - OEM (SP2504C)

Intel Core 2 DUO E6300 "LGA775 Allendale" 1.86GHz (1066FSB) - OEM

Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro CPU Cooler (Socket LGA775)

PowerColor ATI Radeon X1950 Pro Extreme SILENT Heatpipe 256MB GDDR3

HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail

Thanks Guys

Have you tried removing all USB devices and just tesing each port with your mouse? Also check the bios incase something odd has happened.

Replacement wise i'd have to say get the OcUK/JW IP35 Pro, flash it to 1.3b carry on as normal.

thanks mate not quite sure what you mean by flash it to 1.3b carry on as normal,im a bit of a novice. As for the bios and testing each one have tried and tried and tried all i can Even tech at gigabyte cant help on it so what chance have i got? lol.

I meant flash the bios for the board to v1.3b. Its a stupidly straight forward exercise which you can do in windows. As for packaging, pop down to you local IT shop and ask if they have any spare motherboard boxes and anti-static bags. Gigabyte won't care if its not in it original multi-colour box, nor will someone buying it as returned stock (though if its not a quick fix this won't be an issue).

If you're buying another board, the J&W/OcUK IP35-Pro is brilliant with the new BIOS (V1.3b). Other good P35 boards are the Abit IP35-E, the Gigabyte you already have or the P35-DS3L.
