Hey,

Brother law built a pc last year, has 2 x Nvidia GeForce GTX 570's 1024MB's fitted.

Now they overheat and mess up due to bad planning on his part so he wants 1 card to replace them both for his xmas present.

So what gfx cards would make a decent replacement for 2 570's? Main uses are gaming, with a little video editing on the side

Cheapest and most expensive options as I'm not sure what the budget is yet.

he's also asked for a tablet so I've suggested an android tablet and cooling for his cards :p

no, i didnt say i "recommend" anything. I have a couple of 560's, so i am interested in this thread.

in any event, £250+ for a new card for a 10-15% speed increase? that's a lot, for not a lot.

On that i agree, money for nothing is not a good idea ! i do wonder when the vram will become a limit though on the 560's . I went from a 4780x2 to a 7950 and it felt like a massive upgrade even though only a 50% on benchmarks !

I only had one GTX 570, but I replaced mine with 2 x Gigabyte WF3 7950 cards and they have served me very well. In fact, I didn't even need TWO of them to be honest... :o

blimey that must feel tangibly different? can you crank up crisis to max on everything?

thanks for the input, I'll pass it on to the mother in law.

Hoping I can get a cheap 570 out of this to replace my 8800gt :p

You have a couple of working 560s. That's the difference, therefore I don't know why this thread has much to do with ur situ.

Yes 560 SLI to 7950 is a waste. But like I said the OP's borthers 570s don't really work by the sounds of it.

If he had asked for a full SLI upgrade then we would have recommended 7950CF.

I don't get your post tbh...

i was interested to know if my 560s are worth the upgrade to a single 7950, they clearly arnt.

i was asking myself that before i answered it myself (hence the edit), with the toms link.
