I am looking to replace my 7 years old gigabyte 7950 with a 1660 super but as i have an old 1080 samsung monitor (SyncMaster P2450) i think i need a dvi-d connection.Is there a display port to dvi-d extender to buy ?

Yep, you can get those, or HDMI (cables or adapters). Alternatively you could just buy a 1660 super with a dvi.
