Hey guys,

I did a rebuild of my PC yesterday, changing from a NZXT Lexa to Lian Li A05N, with the PSU now being bottom mounted for some reason the fan was ridiculously loud so I went ahead and replaced the fan in my Hiper Type M 530 with an Antec Amber Ultra Quiet 120mm.

My question is, how am I to know if it is cooling the PSU sufficiently? It is up and running now, but if it gets too hot due to not enough airflow from the fan will it just shut down? Is there any way of finding out how hot the PSU is?

Thanks for any info guys,

Martin

What fan was in the PSU?

If you can find that out and google the specs, you could compare the CFM with the new fan.

Also check then run on the same voltage! Some OEM fans are 24v, case fans are 12v.

I very much doubt that a psu has any kind of thermal cutout, the first thing your likely to know about overheating is when something goes pop.

I couldn't find the CFM, but know for sure that they are the same voltage, both 12v just that the Antec Amber uses slightly less amps, so imagine it would push out a little less air but it is very quiet.

The PSU is giving out slightly warm air, but I presume this is normal? It's not hot or anything.

Ok, just caned a few rounds in BF3 and the PSU continues to push out mildly warm air so safe to say it has been a success, quiet PSU now! To think I was about to order a new PSU this morning because of a silly fan.

Thanks guys
