Due to a mess-up at a competitor, I've just ended up with a DS3R instead of my replacement DS3- they've agreed to let me keep the board after I complained, which is nice :D But, I'd originally ordered the DS3 as I'm reinstall-phobic, I wanted to just drop the new board in. My brother reckons I should be able to do a windows repair install rather than a totally new install, and that should preserve all of my current info, settings etc. It's the settings that get me... Data's easy, I have the whole thing mirrored on another drive anyway. The only thing that might make it more complex is that a lot of the guides assume you're upgrading, and can run the PC currently- I can't, it's as dead as a doornail, the mobo actually caught fire

So... Any suggestions? Mainly, will it work?

Yes, a Windows re-install should work just fine - it's got me out of such trouble loads of times. Remember to load RAID/SATA drivers at the beginning on the f6 prompt if the board needs them.
