Hi Guys N Girls,

Been along time since I have bought a new monitor my DELL U2412M is suffering with age and needs replacing. I want to change to a more gaming orientated monitor and have to be honest the more I read the more I am seem not to know what I a looking at. I have my eye on AOC G2460PQU 24" and the price is attractive with the feature set it has. I am not limited to say a sub £200 budget but really wouldn't want to spend more than the £250 range.

Any other options that would the same set of features including the stand and height adjust?

many thanks

Is the Dell not still in warranty? I'm pretty sure it was released in late 2011, and it does have a 3 year warranty.

So you are looking to move from a 1920x1200 Resolution 60 Hz to a 1920x1080 Resolution 144 Hz ...

Maybe I am just old fashioned but I still don't really see the point of moving from 60Hz yet I just don't so unless you have made your mind up that you need 144 Hz then why not save even more cash and just get a newer 1920x1080 Resolution 60 Hz screen ... you can get a 1ms one for £146.00 from OC UK and as you have been a member for a while and you have over 250 post you will get it post free ....

Just an idea...

If it was a manufacture default then it might "just" be in/out of warranty but it got abused by crazy ex and has been "heath robinsoned" to useable standard but now it really is broke, no amount of super glue and sticky back plastic will put humpty back together again.

Its not so much that I have made my mind up its that the dell is falling apart, its like a James May car from Top Gear :).

The Dell is an 8ms screen and although it is an IPS panel which if I am reading the right things is great for colors but not so good for gaming. I myself are advancing in years and I must admit I do suffer from eye strain when gaming on the dell. I can of course not say that wouldn't happen on a "gaming" orientated screen but again I read that there is far less ghosting and ergo less eye strain with the higher Mhz screens with the faster response times, have I been mislead?.

I have to admit that I have attempted to read forums to better educate myself as to the right screen to replace the dell with and am struggling with the right answer. So given the above extra info what would peeps recommend?

Many Thanks

How can a monitor of that age be "suffering from old age"?

I have three 1200P Ultrasharps from around 2007 and they are all totally fine.

Shall we say the GF vented on it when I didn't get ready to go out one night  :( and since then its been poorly :D I have been putting up with it because I had no money but I get paid in a little over a week. I thought it would be best to replace said monitor with a "gaming" type but from the response I am wrong? I read that IPS panels are not as good for gaming?
