I'm pre-empting our apartment's famously hot summer and looking to install an outlet for a portable aircon unit through a window pane.
Reason for the pane idea is the window has a long but very narrow window opening in the middle of the whole window that would look weird and be noisy if it was open 24/7, and the window itself is made of many small panes so should be a cost-effective job. It's also an Airbnb so think doing it the 'pane way' will be neater and more idiot-proof/semi-permanent.
Here's the pane in question (below). I took off the internal surround/fixings and the actual pane itself measures 50x28cm. However I cannot shift it. It will have been there for 13 years since the building was converted and I got nowhere with a hairdryer and a suction cup (suction cup didn't come off, but no movement).
So three questions. How do I get the pane out?! And any recommendations on what to replace the pane with; am I better to get another piece of double glazing cut with a hole for the outlet, or create something using plexiglass or similar instead? That will then determine the last question... how to fit the replacement back in, beyond the obvious.
TIA!
