Hi guys,

Unfortunately my Samsung Q45 laptop backlight has just gone, so my girlfriend has gave me her old laptop- Toshiba Satellite Pro L40.

The Toshiba runs on a Celeron M 440 processor (single core 1.8Ghz) and i want to replace it with my samsung intel processor T7100 (core 2 duo 1.8Ghz). I was trying to research if it is possible which I've seen mix responses. But Im unsure if the chipset is compatible. Celeron also runs at 533mhz FSB and my Core 2 duo runs at 800MHz

Is it possible?

You will need to check if the motherboard chipset will work with the 800Mhz bus speed. Also need to check if the laptop BIOS will recognise the new CPU. Also might be worth checking that both CPU's have the same TDP as if the duo is higher, the Toshiba CPU cooler may not be up to the job of keeping the CPU cool enough.

Unfortunately no, that celly M is socket M based, your T7100 CPU is socket P. You can use a T5500, T5600, T7200, T7400 or T7600 CPU with that system if you need it to have moar power.
