My brother has a compaq presario c300 laptop, and the screen is nackered on it.

The bottom half of the screen is black and only the top half works.

Now I have never ever took a laptop to pieces before, and wouldnt have a clue where to start, but is it an easy process?

Where would be a cheap place for a screen?

Any help would be appreciated, it means me brother would have to buy a new laptop, and he hasnt got a lot of money seeing as hes 15, so me doing this would really help him out. :)

It's a PITA - very fiddly.

It can be done tho, those ribbon cabes and connectors are fragile also, so as long as you're careful, there's no reason you can't do it...

Good luck! :p

Probably best to get one at auction site. There are some guys on there that do it for you for a fairly reasonable fee. Probably looking at around £80 for a new screen maybe a bit less....plus the fitting fee.

Not a majorly complicated job especially if you can find a step by step guide for it online.
