Is it difficult to replace a screen on a laptop. A friend at work gave me an old Asus a6r laptop, unfortunately though the screen is cracked, ive connected it up to an lcd monitor and it runs fine. Spec is

Intel celeron m420
1 gb ram
a6rp mobo
80gb hdd
15.4" wxga screen

Been looking at screen prices, is it even worth replacing the screen or selling the rest of it as parts.

If you can get a screen cheap enough then it could be worth it, I guess it depends if you're going to make use of the laptop or not?

As for changing laptop screens, they're a piece of cake. Usually just a case of whipping the bezel off, undoing a few screws and disconnect vga cable.

Easy, take the rubber gromits off on around the corners (sometimes theres a couple more), un-screw, take the bezel off, take the LCD cover off (the top of the laptop when closed) and unscrew the screws on the side.

Sometimes a little fidly but not hard at all.

Cheers guys, gonna have a lookout on the aution site for a cheap screen, could make a nice cheap system for one of my nieces/nephews.
