Tell me if you think this is unreasonable.

I have had Sky for years. I have 3 HD boxes and every channel. I also have broadband and phone. I pay them a lot of money each month.

The HD box in my room is now very old and has a small hard drive. It still works, so I cannot replace it through an engineer visit.

Do you not think they should have some kind of scheme in place for existing customers to upgrade their boxes for newer versions rather than sticking us with the first ones we get, then charging £65 for a used replacement when they go down.

I asked how much a 2TB one would be and was quoted £250.

Right, I've had what can only be considered a touch.

The live chat person gave me a number to ring to see what could be done. I rung it and got a very helpful gentleman. I told him what I wanted and he said he could see what he could do.

He came back and to my surprise, told me that due to the level of services we have and the length of our custom, he could offer me a brand new, free 500GB HD box, a free wireless connector and a free upgrade to Sky Go extra.

Well happy with that.

well done that man! :D

Not at all bad.

I could do with a larger box, but I'm not paying £160 for one. If only disabling the Showcase thing meant you got that HDD space back.

imo this still isn't a great deal.

how much are you paying per month? and what channels / packages do you have exactly?

wireless connectors were being given away for free if you had movies anyway, so you cannot class that as a result.

also i bought a sky hd + 500GB box from gumtree and a wireless connector along with it for £25, so you could have went down that route. buying from sky directly is so expensive it's retarded as shown above, £150-£200 for a box you can get second hand for a tenth of the price.

sky go extra costs me an extra £2.50 per month.

all in all here you have saved yourself 12 x £2.50 + £20 = £50 and you are most likely paying them over £100 a month whereas for a similar service i pay a lot less than that. therefore i would rather pay £60 per month and save £40 every month, rather than a one off saving of £50.

bare in mind, i may be also due back up to £293 through quidco if my claim gets accepted. which would drop the price from £65.12 per month to £40.71 per month.

so i have 2 sky+ hd boxes and a multi room box still brand new in it's box as a backup in case the one i bought of gumtree fails, but it has been fine for the past few weeks.
