Hello all
I'm new to this forum, although I've been aware of OCUK for a while now. Probably browsed a few threads via google in the time I've had a PC...
Anyhow I'm looking for some advice.
I have an Alienware TactX KG900 keyboard, I think they were initially made back in 2009, and I know it was based on a Logitech keyboard (although precisely which one eludes me).
This -
After a reboot of my PC (not an Alienware it has to be stressed), the keyboard has decided that whilst it will work as a keyboard, the lighting system isn't going to work all of a sudden - when plugged in, the USB cable for the lighting generates an Unknown Device (code 43) in Windows 7's device manager! As I'm PC literate I've done all the usual troubleshooting that is possible, bar taking the thing apart.
I've had two of these keyboards over the past few years, both 2nd hand, the first developed a short in the USB cable that runs the lighting system, somewhere near the keyboard end, and the cable started to get extremely hot, so I've boxed that one, but still have it. I'm actually wondering if I can put in a new cable (or the one from my current slightly faulty one)?
I've had a number of cheap £20-£30 keyboards (including Logitech multimedia keyboards and a Coolermaster mouse/kb combo, think it was the Devastator) over the years and nothing has come close to the Alienware Tactx, despite the fact that the two I've had have been 2nd hand!
So, I'm looking to replace my current AW Tactx KG900 keyboard with one of equal functionality (or more) and build quality, for as little as possible, and would appreciate any ideas on this?
I've considered the current Alienware AW768 keyboard, but apparently it's windows 10 compatible only!
Thanks in advance.
