Hi all

I have a side door on my ground floor flat which I need to replace. I've had issues with it sticking since I moved in and it's single glazed which has caused further problems with condensation which has meant some of the window. The door is a standard 762 x 1982mm size.

What's the easiest way to go about replacing it? I'd like a similar door but with double glazing - something like this:

I assume hardwood is the way to go? Should I replace the frame whilst I'm at it as well? There seems to be a few sites like direct doors which will basically sell you the lot, not sure if this is a better option than just buying the bits and getting someone else to fit it all?

You'll have loads of local firms offering external doors and frames £500 fitted. They'll be plastic or composite with double glazed lights and you can choose that look.

they'll be okay but not great.

£500 sounds very reasonable! I'll have a look around

I've done a bit more research and it appears that composite is the way to go for what I want, although it does sound like you can have issues with double glazing over time as you will have to replace the entire door if the window goes, but I'd hope that wouldn't happen for a good 5 years

I just saw you're in London, make sure it is or has PAS 24 furniture and laminated glass that size opening, or ask for a SBD door which should have all those qualities.
