Hi,
I have an ancient 17" digimate monitor and replacing it has finally come to the top of the purchase list. I am a bit bewildered though by the choice and wondered if anyone could help me out of my misery
I do a bit of gaming (mostly WoW and things like Farcry) and I'll be wanting to do a bit of photo-editing, though nothing serious, just tweaking the occasional shot.
My main problem is that I can't afford to upgrade my graphics card very often. I currently have a Geforce 560Ti which I hope to upgrade to a GTX 970 in a few months, but then that will be it again for quite a while. I do like however playing games on max settings which has worked out ok to date with my ancient 1280x1024 display. I'm assuming from what I've read that I therefore need to steer clear of anything over 24" and 1920x1080 if I want to keep on max settings for a while? Also, does this also mean I need to avoid 144htz monitors as well?
If 144htz doesn't put too much of a strain on graphics cards, I've narrowed my choice down to the AOC G2460PG if I go for a TN panel, or the Dell
U2414 or U2414H if I go for an IPS. I really don't know if I'll notice ghosting on the latter given I'm assuming my ancient monitor has a really slow response time given its age and it doesn't jump out at me on that. However I do want the colours to be better than my current monitor and, daft as it sounds, the only thing I have to compare it to is my iPad air. Would the TN panel look worse than the iPad in terms of colour accuracy/sharpness? I'm presuming the IPS would definitely be better?
Many thanks
