Hi guys, I have a Saphire HD5850 running with a Asus P5Q pro with a Q6600, 4 gig DDR2. Playing battlefield 3 I'm getting reasonable FPS (45-50) on mid to high settings. I was wondering if I upgade to a 6950 or 6970 would I be able to set most of it to high settings and keep a good FPS or would the difference not really be worth the money? Cheers

You should get a decent boost as long as the Q6600 is at 3Ghz or better.

Looking at the prices there have been some deals on the GTX570 @ £240 so that may be an option.

Also rumours of a new GTX560Ti out soon which will be close to GTX570 performance.

Thanks for reply, what I gone for is a second HD5850 to run crossfire. Found a new one on ebay for £130. I have 700 w PSU so it should be enough the only problem I can see me having is space in the case...

Oh dear....

Big mistake going for crossfire. I'm using 11.90 and BF3 is unplayable with stuttering. Tried the 11.9 Cap 4 and no difference. Tried the 11.10 drivers and no difference. Should have just stayed with the one card which was perfectly fine.

**Update**
Well I figured something must be wrong as I've read other posts from people who are getting good results so I uninstalled and reinstalled the 11.10 official drivers and the the 11.9 cap 4 and hey presto it seems fine. To be honest adding a few extra options up to ultra doesn't really make that much noticeable difference as BF3 just looks great on medium and high settings.

***Update 2***
No, I was wrong still a pile of stuttering unplayable rubbish. Gonna try driver sweeper and another driver install. I can play everything on high settings with just the one card but with two it's useless, go figure!
