We're replacing our cracked cermic hob (recessed into worktop) with the exact same one (Samsung), it should be arriving today.

I only realised when removing the current one this morning that there was some adhesive sealing tape used to seal and secure (kind of) it in place. Assuming the new hob doesn't come with some, can anone suggest some?

Also, since it's exactly the same and i'm pretty confident/competent, I assume i'm okay to replace it and don't require an electrician?

It’s in, you were correct, it had a thin foam strip around it. It’s not great though, would prefer to apply a sealant between to ensure no water can run underneath.

Also, I’m not sure what the two hanger brackets are for, because it doesn’t actually hang on them at all. The surround rests flush on the worktop... odd.

Don't run a silicone bead we are told to walk away if a hob is silicone in. Although I do run a blade round just in case it comes out easy, most of our guys run!
