Hello All,

After a bit of advice before i go ahead and order.

I have been tasked with repairing the father-in-law's computer.

The computer is not POST'ing - no manufacturer logo and no beeping.

I have: Tried different RAM, tried a different power supply, tried both onboard and external graphics card, disconnected drives and reconnected - no success.

Because of this i suspect the motherboard is dead (hope somebody can confirm my suspisions)

Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo E4600
The motherboard currently installed is: Foxconn M7VMX
This appears to be a DDR2 motherboard with Chipset: GeForce 7050 + nForce 610i

I have looked and it is still possible to buy a Socket 775 motherboard, however on overclockers the only one available is G41 chipset, supporting DDR3.

I have seen others available that are still the G41 chipset, but would support the current DDR2 RAM already in the system.

My Question Is:
Will the Core 2 Duo E4600 swap straight across to a G41 chipset motherboard?

Sorry if this sounds an amateur question, however i wasnt 'Up With Computers' until Socket 1156.

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks,
Sellw88

should be ok, as i recall, the memory controller is on the mono for socket 775, so you could use either a ddr2 or ddr3 version and it would be fine so long as you use the right memory.

edit: might want to check that the cpu is on the mob's support list, but I'm sure it would be.
