I current have dual 19" 4:3 monitors. This works well enough for video editing, but is not so good for photographic work.

I'm looking at alternatives. A 24" (1920x1200) won't give me the same real estate (as 2x19"), so I would be really interested to hear your views on good 27-30" monitors. They all seem (reassuringly) expensive, but I guess you get what you pay for...

I've had a quick look at the Apple Cinema display, Dell 3008 and the NEC 3090, but ther may well be other good ones out there.

I have a windows system.

Thanks very much

I use this monitor (along with a 32in 720p TV) and I find it to be fantastic. Its great for games and desktop stuff, but due to the S-PVA panel I imagine it would excellent for video & image work. I find the size to be ample, but I guess with your kind of work the bigger the better.

One option you should consider is getting two of these (22 inch Dell 2209WA). They use eIPS panels and would be fantastic for graphical work. Also, two will cost you much less than one 2709W and you get more total screen area.
