Replacing DVD Writer

Hey folks , DVD drive has finally bitten the dust and Im in the process of ordering a new one.

Just a daft question - Will I have to reformat to get windows to recognise it?

Tosh sat pro , win xp pro.

Wouldn't think so, should be recognised by Windows if its compatible once you plug it in.

it should pick it up fine, only problem you may encounter is if the bezel is non standard shape ie not flat, it may not fit the new drive, all depends on make and model age of existing drive, most bezels in the last year or so use the same fitting,
