Hi, thinking about upgrading two large florescent tube lights in the garage with LED equivalents. Is it better to replace the whole fitting or can just the bulbs be exchanged? Which approach is better? If I replace the fitting will the wiring need to be modified significantly?

We replaced ours in the garage & outhouse, much better and instant light, they both came with a replacement for the starter which simply reconfigures the wiring

I got a couple of the LED direct replacement bulbs from B&Q when they were selling them off. Worked a treat really is nice and bright now.

I bought led battens from Screwfix and replaced the whole fitting. Very easy to do and the new battens are far slimmer and lighter than the old fluorescent fittings. Come on instantly and much, much brighter.

I was waiting for my fittings to pack up before replacing mine with LEDs. 10 years on.......they still won't die lol

It's about 10odd year payback.....would have just about paid them off by now, lol

Edit - whilst buying some items off TLC, I chucked a couple in the basket lol.
