Replacing Focus Mk1.5, with what?

this has come up on AT today.
43410 miles, 2 owners, xenons, parking sensors, but at £3998 for a Mk2 non facelift it seems expensive?

It's a top spec with extras on but it doesn't have half leather which a lot of Titaniums have:confused:, it's worth 3.5k tops might be worth asking his lowest cash price as he wont get the asking price for it. Go and test drive if it's local it might be a mint example.

It's in Pontypridd, so 240 mile round trip or there abouts from Anglesey.
Perhaps the original owner didn't fancy leather? Does seem to have everything else according to Etis. I really want Mk2.5 but could accept Mk2 if the price is right!. Wonder if it's worth a trip there tomorrow. Is it worth calling ahead to ask for his lowest cash price?

It's up to u that's quite a distance lol. I would ring up and say U have 3.5k in cash and make it sound like your coming down that day with the money and he will soon drop the price :p just say that's your max and will he drop to it. If not just leave it.
The 2.0 focus seems to be more expensive than the 1.8 for very little power gain u might want to test both. The 0-60 time difference is only 1second.

If it is that far away, I wouldn't bother tbh
get a facelift, so much better in every way
the facelift has 10 all new panels on it and they face lifted the interior too

that's why I ended up getting a 1.8 over a 2Litre, so much more expensive, it just wasn't worth it

ShiWarrior how is the 1.8 Mk2.5 when it comes to things like overtaking? It has a couple extra BHP over the 1.8 in my Mk1.5 but is heavier. Have to drop to third to overtake safely...forth and fifth planting my foot just results in more noise and not much more go unless the revs are over 2500.

The Mk2 looks boring even compared to my Mk1.5 so it'll be the Mk2.5 I'll be waiting/looking for, and has some weird niggles like water running into the car through the doors when opening them, with no fix.

I'm not sure what it is about the Mazda 3 but it looks so dull compared to a Mk2.5 focus. Perhaps I'm looking at the wrong ones! Bigger boot though.

well its my first Ford so I cant comment really , but its fine for over taking, in 3rd or 4th the engine is quite at all revs really

but don forget, the mondeo equivalents have more extras, but depends if you want a heavier and larger car

I went with a Focus because I didn't need the extra space

Thanks for the links :) The latter is out of budget sadly.

£5700 for the 2.0 2010 Titanium with heated seats and keyless entry/start
£5450 for the 1.8 2009 Titanium with heated seats and keyless entry/start, and sports pack but for some reason has rear drum brakes?! Even my Mk1.5 has discs all round.

I can't really afford more than £5k, wonder if either of the above would consider coming down to anywhere near that.

Both are a fair distance away and a little out of budget for me :(
Think it's worth giving the seller of the 2.0 a call and making it clear that I've got £5k cash and no more? He'll probably just laugh at me!
or the 1.8...I just want the little extra power of the 2.0 tbh but budget budget budget

I'll have a little more once I've sold my car but I need my car before I get the new one :)

its worth asking them yes
but if they are too far away then, look closer to home or keep waiting, I waited months for my one to come along :)

The £5450 2009 1.8 has had 3 previous owners. 194 miles away. 7h30 by train. 250 mile drive each way, 5 hours.
The £5700 2010 2.0 has had 1 previous owner. 129 miles away. 4 hours by train, not too bad a drive if I can find someone willing to drive my car back.
I don't know if this means much given that the cars are 5-6 years old.

The 1.8 does look nice with the upgrades but it'll basically take a day of driving or train to get it. but is cheaper and more chance of getting it down to 5k. Less miles on the 2009 too.

EDIT: 1.8 sold

How about this?
Titanium 2.0 68k full dealership history, no keyless or heated seats or sport pack or bluetooth though, but £4995 with scope for some haggling and could potentially p/x my car as it's from a dealer.

only up the road from me ;)

I was just looking at ones with heated seats, and was trying to find leather for you though

for a reference, in September, I paid £5K for a 1.8 zetec from a dealer with 45K on the clock, full ford history, 1 or 2 previous owners I cant remember

personally its too many miles for the price, but it is a 2Litre which are more expensive to buy
