I've noticed the wing mirror on my driver's side on my MK5 fiesta recently has looked a bit loose & the plastic catches which connect up the mirror to the actual black plastic wall have somehow snapped off too, but the mirror itself is not showing any signs that it is going to fall off but you can basically see that its slightly wobbly, I've got a brand new replacement wing mirror on the way & i have read up on various instructions on the net of how to remove & replace the mirror but some of them say its just a simple case of removing the black cover inside thr car & removing 3 screws, but a lot of the other guides state that you have to remove the whole door panel off as well! So i am a bit confused & would like to ask if anyone on here has had any experience with replaceing these mirrors or even a brief walkthrough of how to safely remove the old mirror & then fit the new one on?

Thanks guys - Liam

Door panel off I am afraid, just done mine after the misses smashed it.

Reason is the lower screws that hold it on are behind the very top of the panel.

Aaahh sounds like its going to be a bit of a pita job then lol is it a pretty easy job to fit the new one back on once the old one is off??

I had to replace the mirrors on my mums fiesta mk5. Not a bad job really. The most annoying bit is how the card is connected at the top of the door along the window. They have used some super adhesive.

From what I can remember there is a little collar around the mirror adjustor. Twist and pull it off. Then you can carefully prise off the plastic cover. Think that exposes two of the three screws. Lower one is kindly hidden behind the door card. You dont have to completely remove the card to get to the final screw.

Bit vague but I can't remember what I did without looking at the door.

Yep, that's about it.

The whole panel including the window rubber at top of panel just lifts off no adhesive, so no need to un-stick anything.

Next question is how do i safely remove the door panel? lol

Edit - i forgot to say as well, removing the door panel is probably a good idea as well as i need to check the connections for the speaker on my drivers side as it does not work very well. Another thing i have noticed as well is that the old mirror which is still on the car is actually a replacement one & looks like whoever fitted on the car before me did a bit of a bodged job of it & could have affected the speaker cable as i have heard that the mirror screw in the door panel is right next to the speaker cable if i am right?

Thanks - Liam

Anybody know how to remove the dor panel on my MK5 Fiesta? Also does it sound like that the speaker or tweeter on the drivers side of the car have gone? This is another thing as well i have noticed that the tweeter does work a little bit but the lower speaker does not at all could it possibly be connection related?

Thanks - Liam
