Hello all,

Can anyone on here shed some light on a standard procedure for replacing the front coil springs on a fiesta (2002-2008) or any car......

I presume it is:
Jack up car
Take wheel off
support suspension arm thing and jack up a small amount
clamp the spring
Undo bolt holding the shock absorber and remove it
replace spring
reverse of above

Seems pretty straight forward to me, the only unknown is the removal of the shock absorber

I'm assuming it has McPherson struts, in which case you'd just remove the strut by means of unbolting it and manoeuvring it out of the wheel arch, then swap the spring off the car. Clamp the old spring, undo and remove the top mount, unclamp springs, remove spring, put new spring on, clamp it, put the top mount back on, unclamp spring, refit strut to car.

As Clarkey has said - if it is MacPherson strut then you don't compress the spring on the car, you do it when the damper unit has been removed.
