Replacing halogen bulbs with LEDs...

ps - Do you by any chance happen to have any sort of financial relationship with Cree? ;)
unfortunately no.

I cannot link to nor suggest any specific Cree-based GU10 replacements that are good. Some time ago i speculated as to the theoretical validity of the concept with modern high-end LEDs but no actual products using them have appeared as yet.

I'm in a weird flat with 12 X 35W GU10 (230v) bulbs in the one living area. I try not to use the main lights at all!

I wonder if it would be cost effective to replace them all with cheap LED bulbs seeing as there are so many I'd only need low powered ones?

I'm in a similar situation with 16 GU10 bulbs in our living room (50W each!) so replaced them with LED bulbs (3W) for about £4 each, so a large outlay now but they will pay for themselves over the year.

if anyone finds actual decent replacements please let me know, i've gone through so many that don't even compare to halogens its unreal.
