Replacing Integrated Dishwashers

Hi,

My siemens integrated dishwasher has increasingly been displaying E05 "electronic" errors recently, requiring hard poweroffs and some magic to fix, its days are probably numbered...

I'm guessing with an engineer visit + parts this would easily be 70% the cost of a new dishwasher, but I've never replaced an integrated one before. I can see wooden unit door will unscrew and fit a new one easily, but are integrated dishwashers all fairly standard? i.e. do they all allow for an integrated skirting board and is there anything else to be careful with to ensure it fits in with the wider unit space?

For measuring my current one, it has adjustable height feet which raise it up to the unit top, is this also standard or would I measure floor to unit height for a new one?

Thanks for any tips :)

It's all the same, you just need to buy either a full size one (60cm width) or compact one (45cm width). Everything else you've mentioned is standard fit on an integrated one.

I’m not sure it is all the same. You may need to be careful with the depth of the appliance and where the pipe work is run, etc. When our integrated dishwasher needed replacing we were limited to only a few models because of the way it had been fitted.

A friend of mine had a similar issue with a built in washing machine and another with a built in fridge/freezer.

"Built in" looks smart but they are a PITA when they need to be replaced.

They are not a standardised as you might expect, replacement options that will fit "Right first time" may be quite limited and they can be a good bit more pricy than the stand alone equivalents.

Indeed. We had to pay more for a model with less features in order to fit the space. When it arrived it turned out the chassis was exactly the same as the 17 year old model it was replacing and I imagine the technology inside it hasn't moved along much either.
