Replacing jack and wire.

Hey, I'm needing to replace the jack and wire for my headset
It's come clean off

I was wondering if there's any pointers for the wire, it appears to be some kind of thread/wire twist,
the wire itself is very thin, seems to need heat to burn off whatever coating it's got on it.

Am I good to buy more of this and solder it to the old stuff?
Should I open the headset up and replace the whole length with a new piece?

replace the whole length rather than try patching two pieces together

why not reuse the old wire that came off (assuming it is long enough)

Probably your best bet as it will have more cores than normal headphone cable because of the microphone.

It's a razer megalodon, it's pretty damp broke atm
I was planning on splitting the cable out and putting the different speakers into the different jack slots on the surround

what "different speakers"? It only has two, it's a virtual surround sound headset.

Each cup has 2
Front and rear.
I was planning on either plugging them in separately, and it that doesn't sound so good bridging them to a stereo set.

if you open them up I'm pretty sure you'll only find one speaker per cup

Possibly, I'm just going by what the wiring suggests in the maelstrom unit
It has a digital ground,led,mic,analogue ground, and 4 speakers (2 left, 2 right) listed at the terminus of the cable, written on the pcb
But if there's only 2 that'll be far easier

Going by the images on google its 1 driver per side but doesn't look like an easy job redoing the wire fully :S

yeah,
I took it apart, there's 1 per side
There's a breakout pcb in the right cup, so that would help attaching a new cable.
