Hi all,

I've had my Samsung Series 9 (NP900X4C-A01UK) since Dec '12 and clearly now it's out of warranty it's decided to break horribly:

I have taken it to the Samsung Repair Centre in Angel and was quoted *sits down* £350 for it to be repaired. This due to it needing a replacement screen assembly and apparently as it all comes as one unit, that's the only way to replace it. Now I probably can just pay that and it'll be done and dusted but ideally there must be a cheaper way to go about this.

I have tested and the laptop works fine using an micro HDMI on a second screen, and likewise the built-in webcam works fine (as tested using the 2nd screen).

Does anyone have any experience with replacing laptop screens that might be able to give some advice?

I have done some research and found (mostly US) units on eBay and there's a 'geezer' in Essex who has a service that says it will provide the whole unit for £94... I'm a bit suspect but they also do a service where they come to my house and fix it in front of me?!
