Hi all.

I have FTTC (BT Infinity), so I have the VDSL modem, the HomeHub and then a GbE switch (thanks BT for the sinlge GbE port on the HomeHub!)

All of this kit is bundled under at the back of the cupboard under the stairs. This can sometimes cause issue with the wireless signal to the upstairs front bedrooms. My study is one of the front bedrooms - and since ditching my desktop and using my MacBook up there I've noticed more frequent WiFi issues.

This combined with the HH3's love of dropping routing periodically on the wired interfaces has convinced me it's time to upgrade the lot.

We have a 2830n at work. It does the job. I've been looking at the 2850n. Is that suitable to replace all my other boxes - I keep seeing that it's suitable for up to 50mb/s - my connection is faster than that, will this be a problem?

I presume with it's three external aerials that I can manipulate them get the best signal. I need dual frequency as 2.4ghz is congested near my house and I want the MBP to on 5ghz.

Any other suggestions in the ~£200 range?

We use 2830s at work for bt infinity customers and it works ok though haven't actually speed tested them for 100Mb, not sure about wireless as we never deploy it, but given the price of them anyway I'd have a look at what I use - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=NW-028-AS

4 GbE ports, dual band, aerials are internal though it claims to 'lock on' to devices somehowl, works ok for me but I haven't tested it's wireless speed past 30Mb as I don't wirelessly network my machines together - plus all the other top end router features

Or there's the pricier http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=NW-049-AS&groupid=46&catid=1596&subcat=1934 which has external aerials, still cheaper than a Draytek.

Thanks for those suggestions, they both lack the VDSL modem though - which is one of the boxes I'm keen to consolidate.

I suppose though, given the price differences I could hang on to it. I'll dig out some reviews of the wireless performance of those Asus units.
