Replacing Media Player

Got a friend who asked me what she can replace Windows Media player with.

She wants to record the local hospital radio online,then it burn it to a dvd, just can't think of what to recommend to her.

You want a recommendation to do the recording of the online radio? or to play the burned dvds afterwards?

VLC is a good straight up replacement for WMP.

The recording of the online radio, playing dvd's afterwards isn't a issue.

I've always used VLC, it's a fantastic replacement.
