replacing mobo...clean os install options

hope i'm posting in the correct section

gonna replace my motherboard on Saturday with a UD6 that I picked up on the MM, so obviously it's best to do a clean install of OS (win7).....yes?

but just wondering if I can drag and drop a few folders onto my secondary hdd, for example in Program Files (x86) I have an Electronic Arts folder with a few installed games in it, mainly BFBC2-will it all work ok if i just copy that onto my 2nd hdd to save me having to re-install the games that are in there.

I'm really just being lazy and trying to save myself having to re-install or download a lot of the stuff I have already installed on the OS hdd.

Also when I do the clean install of the OS is it worthwhile creating a partition on my primary hdd just for the OS?
 
You cant drag the folder and keep the game "installed" its more complex than that.

You have to start over.
 
However, if you have some steam games then you can indeed just backup the "steamapps" folder and copy the contents into the counterpart folder in your new installed system (after steam is in place). Once you get into steam and tell it to "download" one of the games you transferred over- it will just find it automatically.

Ahh never thought of doing that, I'll have to locate the game save files. BFBC2 is really the only one I wanna hold on to....don't think I'll bother with crysis....pile o'dung that it is!!

Literally just finished moving my steam folder over, along with my iTunes library. Thankfully I have a folder with most of the install .exes for my often used apps, msi afterburner etc.
I'll just copy it over and re-install those once the OS is up and running again, save me downloading them all again....and there is a whooooole lotta them!

Tho my secondary hdd (500gb) is getting very near it's limit!
