Im going to have to replace my mobo as the ferrite cores are squealing, particularly when i've overclocked. If i were to replace my current P5B with say a P5K-Premium (which i plan to get), would I have to reinstall XP?

might be able to get away with just removing old drivers/utils etc and installing any new ones - i have done it before but it was with a similar board

It depends, you might need to do a repair install or more likely call up Microsoft on their freephone number to get a reactivation code since changing a motherboard is one of the major events that is supposed to trigger the requirement for reactivation.

A fresh install would be neater and less likely to cause issues but you can certainly try simply transplanting the disk, just be aware that you may need to reinstall anyway and if you don't need to go to those lengths then it is a bonus. :)
