hi guys, looking too replace my msi z77 gd65 as i have an annoying problem stopping me form overclocking further.

i've been trying to get my overclock stable for some time and while doing extensive testing i came to notice that when i raise the vcore over 1.24 my system becomes unstable and even more unstable the higher i set the vcore.

quick example.

my system is stable at 45 x 100 1.2vcore prime95(18hours) now if i use the same settings and change the vcore to 1.28 i get instant bsod 0x124 when running prime, so i changed multiplier back to 35 x 100 and left vcore at 1.28 and ran prime i got another instant bsod... if i change my vcore to 1.3+ my windows fails to load and i get bsod 0x124. i can only suggest this is the board and none of my other hardware?

ocuk will not RMA the board as overclocking is not guaranteed.. great:rolleyes:.

on my short list of boards i have

Gigabyte Z77X-UD3H
Gigabyte Z77X-UD5H
Asus Sabertooth z77

any input would be greatly appreciated on the problem or choice of board.

whats more likely, my cpu not liking 1.28vcore which seems pretty low is there any other reports ov IB cpus doing this? or my board, never used msi boards before always had gigabyte boards not sure why i changed.

Not every chip is the same (CPU lottery) my 3570K needs a lot of Vcore to do 4.7GHz.

i know but i've had about 20+ cpus in 10 years and none have ever done this before then again never had a board do this either.

is there any test i can do to try and narrow the problem down, i dont have another cpu or board to try.

does any 1 have anything to add before i potentially waste vast amounts of cash in my chase to get my cpu to 4.8ghz + ?
