I would like to replace my cables in my system with some nice braided cables but I've encounter a problem which I'm struggling to find a answer.

I have a Rampage Extreme IV motherboard with a 8pin EATX12V_2 female connector

I'm looking for the correct 8pin connector, Any people with knowledge/experience out there with opinions would be great.

This looks like the correct connector but being a EPS12V I'm not sure if it is.

BitFenix Alchemy 8Pin EPS12V Extension 45cm - sleeved black/red/black

I've also asked ocuk through webnote.

"I am sorry but we have not tested this and I do not want to recommend it as we are unsure. It is possible that it is fine but I would advise against it."

What makes me believe that this cables isnt the correct cable is I also have a 4pin EATX12V_1 which I can find on in the braided cable list

BitFenix Alchemy 4-Pin ATX12V Extension 45cm - sleeved red/black

And sorry if this is in the wrong sub section not really sure where the best place to ask is.

I have no experience with the board or the cables but pretty easy to see the pin shapes in the picture so if in doubt compare it to the 8pin plug you are currently using.

Edit: Bit of googling to find a picture where the plugs are visible, found one in the bit tech review here and the plug is the same shape are the one in the OCUK product photo. Assuming the OCUK product photo is accurate then there shouldn't be any problems with it fitting.

Hey

I have used BitFenix extensions before and I used the 8 pin EPS12v one.
Cables in my PSU are split into 2 x 4 pin cables for easier routing or perhaps to use for motherboards which do not have 8 pin cpu power slot, only 4 pin i.e. some mITX boards.

I used these cables in Black/Gold to power Z87 mITX and black/red to power Z87 EATX (evga z87 Classified). I guess it would be ok to use them for your RIVE.
However did not have RIVE before, so maybe it is best to wait for someone who have this motherboard to answer.
Or look through project logs / motherboard forum section and ask there.

Thanks very much just needed a bit of reassurance.

Thx Greboth, I did check also after you said and the pins are the same, I cant see why it wouldn't work but I've still got worries in the back of my mind.

I use that 8 pin eps12v (cpu power socket) on my rive works flawlessy

I guess that means it'll be fine.

Thank you all, its all helped me put most worries to bed

Thought I'd finish off the thread with a image of the installed cables still not happy about the PCIe cables but will sort them when I do the sata cables
