I've been struggling with my build since July. It's my fault for not doing my research. I originally bought an ASUS PK5C mb (a combo ddr2/3 board for those who don't know) which proved to be the worst purchase of 2008. Shortly after I upgraded to a P5E3 mb which I'm pleased with.
Trouble is, my system whilst beefy on the whole has stability problems stemming from compatability issues with the 2x1gb OCZ Platinum 1333 DDR3 I've been using. I've tweaked it to the point of being reasonably stable but it's far from perfect and I've now reached the end of my teather.
So, I'm dumping the OCZ as the issues between it and the P5E3 are the stuff of legend and I'm now in the process of shopping around for a worthy successor. The qualified vendor list is a little lacking so any advice would be a great help. The contenders are:
1: Corsair 4GB DDR3 DHX 1600C9DHX Twin3X (2x2GB)
First on the list as it's on offer this week. I've heard mixed reports about this kit however so I'm unsure.
2: G.Skill 4GB DDR3 HZ PC2-12800C7 1600MHz (2x2GB)
Good latency, but I don't know much about G Skill as a whole.
3: OCZ 4GB DDR3 PC3-10666C7 1333MHz Intel Extreme XMP (2x2GB)
Yeah... OCZ again, and expensive. However, it's supposed to by optimised for X38 Chipsets which sounds appealing.
4: Corsair DDR3-1600 (DHX3-12800C7)
This sounds perfect... Well, that's what the corsair memory config thingy said anyhoo. Problem is I can't find it for sale in the UK anywhere.
Dropping down to 2 gig kits
5: GeIL 2GB DDR3 PC3-12800C7 1600MHz Black Dragon EVO ONE XMP (2x1GB) Dual Channel DDR3
It's GeIL... What more can I say?
6: Kingston 2GB PC3-13000C7 HyperX Intel XMP 1625C7 (2x1GB) Dual Channel DDR3
Expensive
Well... As you can see, I'm in a muddle. Last thing I want to do is make another bad decision so any help would be appreciated.
Thanks guys
