Quick easy one for you guys.

Have a suspected duff open reach modem (no dsl light at all), BT are being huge bells over it, engineers not arriving etc..absolutely ******* me off to the point I will try a new modem, which will hopefully work, then I shall waste their time :)

Basically I need a few recommendations on what vdsl2 (this correct for bt infinity?) Modem/router to look in to buying in the morning, budget is somewhat unlimited, ideally not much more then £100?

I would like to try a modem - if it doesn't work I can easily return it. BT are proving extremely difficult to deal with.

The modem doesn't try to do anything, the dsl light doesn't do a thing, doesn't even blink to indicate it's trying to establish a connection. It's not like its trying and failing, it just isn't even trying.

AFAIK for modems your options are limited to the OR supplied ECI or Huawei, or the DrayTek Vigor 130. You aren't likely to find any of them in a typical retail outlet. Your best bet is probably an OR modem via online auction.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. Couldn't find the billion modem/router anywhere local, I have however, found a tp link w9980 for £60 which I'll go pick up later today :)

A little late if you've already picked up the TPLink, but the Draytek Vigor 130 with the latest firmware which supports G.INP is very good. Been using mine for the last couple of months with no issues.

Aye got the tp link, still won't connect so must be a line fault (as predicted by alecr).

Great, have to wait for bt to 'show up' on Monday now and try resist the urge to pan the lazy sods face in.

It's ok I think it's a line fault now, New modem, New filter, New cables still nothing. Just hope the guy actually decides to show up this time.

Yes, I had a hub 3 with open reach modem.

They've sorted it, software issue at the exchange so I'm told...

Get this tp link modem/router up on the mm now :D
