Hi , im going away in 10 days. And i ordered the new passport on Friday via there fast track method. It says it can take upto 14 days but whats your experiance with this , how long did it take for yours?

When I ordered mine (first passport) 2 years ago, I used the standard service and had it within 10 days of posting the forms

I renewed mine in Oct 2008 and had mine back within a week and that wasnt the fast track method.

My GF used the fast track method, she had hers back within 5 days. I got her to give them a call, don't know if it really helped, but the guy was helpful and said he'd make sure she got her passport before we went away.

Just depends on how busy they are. Leaving in 10 days I would personally have gone in for the 1 day express service, but you will probably be ok.

I got mine back in less than a week so you should be ok. Depends how many people are renewing. Might be a few at the moment seeing as we are coming upto holiday season!

Slight bump on this.

Going away on the 9th July. Only just realised my passport expires this month.

Do you think I'll get my new one back if I send off the forms this week? I've got roughly 4 weeks until I go away :(

Not having a go but it amazes me the amount of people who leave something so important so late

depends how often you use it really.
if you never travel abroad, it just stays in the drawer or whatever under all the other crap that you never use..

do you know when your driving licence and credit/debit cards expire? :p

Took mine in on Friday and they wanted my birth certificate. I don't have it, so i have to get one which is likely to take a while.

What a pain. :/ I wanted to leave asap too. :(

I know but when I get the urge to travel one of the first things I do is to make sure my passport is ok to use , rather than book a hol then a few weeks before going dig it out the cupboard only to find its just about out of date

I was just about to post the same. You book the holiday you know the times you're going to go, surely you'd check your passport was valid at the same time no? Ok I used to take over 40 flights a year when I worked in another industry so maybe it's second nature to me, but nonetheless it's a little daft not to check before booking the holiday!

My British passport expired, fortunately I have another one I can use so I have got a backup, anyway I applied for it online, got the forms through, and within 7 days I had a new passport - didn't even need an interview despite being a mongrel. ;)

It's good to hear people are getting them back pretty fast, but I would have thought they are busy at this time of year, so it may take longer. I really want mine asap, but I guess it's my own fault for not doing it sooner.

Takes usually about 3-4 weeks, and even less if u use the post offices check and send service. I have got 1 ov them new 1's with a chip in it, really easy to use at airports as u just scan and go through

Ring the passport people up, i applied for a passport last month and have a feeling i read somewhere they might be able to delay the expiry date.. although i'm not fully sure of that but ring them up and they'll tell you what your options are, but at the minimium use the fast track service, its worth the extra cash
