So my matched pair of Ballistix had to be RMA'd and after replacing them temporarily with a friends 1gb stick XP wanted me to reactivate.

Is this likely to happen again when I replace the 1gb stick with my 2x 512mb sticks?

This wouldn't be a problem but at uni we need to login to the campus network before we can conenct to the net so the reactivation process gets a bit messed up.

You can make 3 or 4 changes (can't remember exactly) before needing to re-activate. If you've only just re-activated, providing you haven't also changed another couple of things, you should be ok.

Even if you did need to though, you can always ring Microsoft on the free number provided to re-activate :)

I had to reformat that last time because I was getting nowhere trying to reactivate.

I'm just worried that it will happen again.

The phone system is fully automated now, unless you're being illegal.. Which if you are, you're not going to say anyway. It's dead easy now and was well happy when I didn't have to speak to someone I couldn't hear properly.

It's legal, msdn if your interested. Thing is, when it happened, the entire system was locked down and even the start bar was restricted.

I'm just afraid that it will happen again. The last time I couldn't even get to the activation program.

Funny, I preferred to speak with someone as the stupid lady on their automated service kept saying that my product key was invalid  The time before that however I did use the automated service with success :)
