Replacing RFTs on E89 Z4

The time has come to replace the rears on my Z4 and I'm thinking this could be an opportunity to get rid of the frankly terrible standard RFT's (Potenza's).

What I'm wondering is:

1. Has anyone changed from RFT's to Non RFT's in a Z4 and is there anything I should be aware of?
2. What non RFT's should I be looking at? My tyre sizes are 225/40/R18 Fronts and 255/35/R18 rears

I've changed to non RFTs, albeit on a Z4 e86. Same tyre sizes though.

1. Nothing you need to be aware of, just be a member of the AA/RAC and/or buy an electric pump and some tyre gunk.

2. I've gone for Falken FK452 all round. Reasonable tyres at a reasonable price. But Vredestein's are a bit better regarded on z4-forum.com
 
Conti Sport Contact 5's at £131 each for fronts £196 for rears

Good Year F1A2 at £141 each for fronts and £185 for rears

Good stuff - do I need to do anything to the flat tyre warning system in iDrive? I'm guessing that works from rotation speed so shouldn't be impacted?

What ranges are you getting from your non RFT's?

2 x 225/40/18 Goodyear Eagle F1A2's for £220
2 x 255/35/18 Goodyear Eagle F1A2's for £308

Good price on great tyres. I've recently fitted Goodyear Eagle F1 A2s on my E85 and it's made a fantastic difference. I paid a bit more than that, so at that price I'd snap them up!

I made the swap on an E60 and while you don't need to do anything after the change, expect this to go off every so often despite the fact you don't have a puncture.

It's easy to reset through the iDrive menu but it's a right pain.

Mine never went off except the once I had a punture and that was with both runflats and non runflats.

Maybe it's got a dodgy sensor.

It's annoying that it doesn't tell you which tyre supposedly has a puncture because I might be able to see a pattern emerge.

I told Admiral and they logged it but it made no difference to my premium.
 
What's the wear rate like on the Eagle F1's? I've managed to get 20k on the rears out of these RFT's - should I expect more or less on non RFT's?
 
Runflats are not a legal / insurance requirement. You MUST at least match the minimum load rating.

RFT will make no difference. Going to Goodyears will see a reduction in tyre life as they are a softer compound than the Bridgestones.
