For the last year I've had Sky (for the F1) but it's costing over £60 a month and I think I could probably live with the BBC coverage for now.

The one thing I couldn't see myself without though is the recording feature of Sky+ so am looking to replace the Sky box with HD freesat, am I right in thinking that one of these would be fine for recording Emmerdale etc when I'm out?

Or are there any better ones for around the same price?

i believe you can keep the box and pay a small monthly fee for them for unlock the recording feature even after the contract is over

Yes, you are correct about that Humax being used for that purpose.

However I have a Humax Foxsat, albeit not that particular model, and the on screen guide can be a little sluggish in responding, I have also seen this type of comment elsewhere.

It still does what its designed to do though. I have mine still setup but dont really use it anymore, not since I upgraded my broadband and it came with one of those Youview boxes, same as freesat but through one aerial
