After 17 years we are leaving sky as we could not justify the expense,BT fibre is being installed in a week ( works out at £20 a month) We have a amazon fire tv but would like something to record programs. The BT hd box is £18 a month a humax freesat is £200 .Is there a better way of doing the same thing?

After your sky service ends if you log into the website with your account details you will almost certainly be offered 50% off.

Im currently pay £15 a month for sky + with the family pack and HD

Does your TV have a sat input ? and does it have a USB port ?
If it does have both, you can simply screw in one of your Sky leads and then use a very large USB stick to record off of Freesat. As long as you watch the recordings and delete them fast, it's cheap and dosn't need any outlay other than a large USB stick.

It has USB but only freeview looking for a low power pc that can record things up to 4k rather than a humax box, freesat would be better as we have no ariel at the moment .

do that if my experience is anything to go by, moving to BT will be a mistake. i did that twelve months and and now im back with sky again. It's just better and with the 60% off they offered me, cheaper than bt was (sky fibre unlimited, lineline, sky + boxsets and cinema just under £43/month).

Wonder what deals they'll offer Sky Q customers when the first contracts start ending later this year. Somehow I doubt it'll be the same 50% off.

The freesat ones are expensive you may as well but new. I will see what they offer james.
