Hi people, I currently have Sky Q installed with 1 additional Sky Q Mini. Ive read that the Sky Q Hub can not be used in "bridge mode" AKA "modem only" mode. If I was to buy a 3rd party router like the AC86U, do I need to also buy a separate modem replace the Sky Q hub as well to prevent issues?

Unless the AC86U has a built-in modem that's compatible with the required DHCP options that Sky use (no, it's not MER), then yes, you'll need a modem and a firmware on the AC86U that will allow you to specify the correct options.

It doesnt have a modem, however some ISPs have the option on their own modem to use as "modem only " like Virgin or BT. Sky seems to be the only one that does not have that in their Hub :(

Virgin is completely different, they require you to use its equipment, you have no other option and can’t purchase a 3rd party modem. BT supply the HomeHub 6, which won’t do modem only/bridge mode, but non of this is relevant to your issue.
