Just looking for some advice. Currently got 5 x Kenwood CM-7ES and a BK Gemini II and have been meaning to upgrade the fronts and centre for a while. What would people recommend. I was thinking a budget of about £150 and matt black. If i have a chance will pop into RS to have a listen.

New.... and in matte black.... and under £150 for the centre and fronts.... can't be done with quality product. The budget is too small.

The closest you'll get is around £200 for the Q Acoustic 3090c centre in graphite plus the Q Acoustic 2010i stereo pair in a matching finish.

If you're a dab hand at DIY and can spray then there's a whole world of inexpensive Mission speakers to choose from. There's tonnes of reviews online so you can sort the wheat from the chaff. Remember though, as soon as you paint them they'll lose any resale value.

Cheers for that :)

Lucid what sort of budget would i be looking at to get a decent set? I've noticed in the RS website they've currently got TANNOY MERCURY V1 pair which appear to be a good price. And then at a later date try and pick up one of the centre version of it?

Yep, if you drop the requirement for matte black then your options open up quite a bit. There's the Tannoy V1s you mentioned at £70, or the Monitor Audio MRs that Dsteviedee mentioned.

You could have course go the other way round and get the centre now and wait for the fronts until later. Arguably that's a bigger upgrade step because so much of what you hear in 5.1 comes from the centre channel.

Thanks for that. Decided to upgrade the centre instead and was flicking between the Monitor Audio Centre Dsteviedee mentioned and the Q Acoustic 2000Ci and decided on the 2000Ci and will save up a bit more to replace the others. Cheers for your time :)
