Thought I would go out on a limb here and see if you guys can help me at all.

Trying to replace my suspension coil for MOT, on a 99 clio.

So, on the top is an allen key and a bolt. Been trying all weekend and am completely stuck, unable to get this bolt to shift (the whole thing moves, just not the bolt) Have managed to twist the allen key quite well just from brute force.

So, tonight I'll try clamping the suspension with mole grips to try and lock it so it doesn't move (as using wd40 has allowed some movement), but anyone got any tips on how to free up the bolt a little?

Have drenched it in wd40 which worked when replacing the tie rod end, just wondering if there is anything else I can do?!

Unless you have spring compressors get a garage to do it. Springs can be deadly under tension and even with spring compressors they need treating with kid gloves.

I've got compressors, got my neighbour helping with odd bits, but he's currently stuck replacing the engine in his merc so I'm learning as I go!

No Impact gun through, which sounds like the only way this will come off. The guy whos doing my mot said If i can't budge it he'll bring his over. (I was only doing it myself to save on labour cost, I'm definatly not used to oxford prices yet..)

But I think it's time to bite the bullet and cough up if I fail again tonight!

Little update, managed to get it off!

Now struggling to get the new coil on correctly, it's getting there though but was far too dark outside, so a job for tomorrow :)
