Replacing talktalk super router (hg633)

This router is absolutely worthless so I'm looking to replace it.

Now, I'm not a networking guy so Im not sure what I need to look for. I think the Hg633 is a modem/router combo so I will need something that should plug and play.

Talktalk luckily allow 3rd party routers and I have the settings I need when I swap.

What do you guys recommend for a max budget of £80? I don't really have any kind of home NAS or anything but decent range is important.

I have 38mb fibre if that changes anything?

What's worthless about it, just the wireless? You may be better off with a dedicated wireless access point instead.

Getting a lot of random drop outs and range is OK at best. I'm having to reset it once every few days as my speed drops to 2-3mb then eventually just dies.

you could try asking talktalk for their newer sagemcom router as a free replacement. or i think its £30 to buy.

Have you checked the routers logs and confirmed it's actually anything to do with the router? Does it affect wired devices or just wireless? Have you checked what channel it's on and how busy it is? If it's purely a wifi issue then a decent AP would be a better option. If it’s a line issue, then that needs investigating.
