A few months ago I upgraded my system and put in a 4400X2, Artic Pro 64 etc and no probs at all. First thing I noticed was the increase in noise from my old Silenx/Ahanix fan that I had on my old heatsink.I just left it like that. Now, with twins on their way in a few weeeks, my PC room is being turned into a nursery and the PC is being moved, probably to our bedroom. The result will be a "noisy" pc in the bedroom. Is it possible to replace the fan on the Artic Pro with the likes of the Silenx/Ahanix ones to quieten things down a good bit? It's an 80mm fan that I want to put on it.If it isn't, any good replacements? Don't think I could afford watercooling at the minute due to the twins.Cheers for any help in advance,

D

In my experience the artic pro 64 has one of the quietest fans, perhaps you have a defective one? You could try using some duck tape to secure a 120mm fan on, or otherwise look at one of the cheap watercooling kits. I have one of the Thermaltake Bigwater 745 kits and that works ok and is very quiet and a lot cheaper than you'd think.

The swiftech WC kits are far better than the thermaltake ones if you were going to go along that line. It is possible to mod the Freezer but it is one of the quitest out there already afaik.

You might want to read the FAQ and sort your sig out before a don gives you an unwanted holiday or something ;)

The swiftech kits are better than Thermaltake, they are more expensive also. The Thermaltake kits are also renowned for their silence, probably because the pumps are slower. I agree that the Arctic cooler is about as quiet as you are going to get for air cooling. Get a water kit if you can afford it, Swifttech kits are sometimes listed in the 'B' grade section on OcUK making the Thermaltake price advantage null and void.

Read FAQ as suggested, thanks, could have got myself banned before I have even begun, lol.

cable tie/ screw an 80-120mm fan adapter to the freezer, stick an akasa amber 120 on it (about the same amount of air flow) and it should be nice and quiet. Alternatively try speedfan and see if it will let you control the CPU fan, at 80% my freezer pro is silent.

or you could do that! I did read that the Arctic fan motor bearing also often leak, mainly a problem with PWM controllers I think, but adding the 120mm fan would likely to be quieter and still plenty of airflow.
